The Story of Hill Candles
In the Himalayas, the mountain people often struggle to find income opportunities as mountain farming has mainly become unprofitable. Many seek work in the cities, but in the creek of the Ganges river, over 150 women have come together to produce beeswax candles using local Himalayan beeswax. Through joint training programs, cohesion, and production, the women benefit from jointly creating a synergy of rural income opportunities and empowerment. Read more.

Environmental Impact
The Himalayan bees migrate seasonally from the mountain ranges to the hills below, and the wax is collected in sync with their movements, ensuring no harm comes to the bees.
Why did we develop this product?
Paraffin wax is a petroleum byproduct, and can release harmful pollutants like toluene and benzene*. Inhaling these toxins can irritate the respiratory system, and is especially concerning for people with allergies or asthma*. Beeswax is a natural substance produced by bees without synthetic ingredients. This makes beeswax a better choice for those concerned about indoor air quality and potential health risks associated with paraffin candle use. In addition, Beeswax candles have a higher melting point and, therefore burn slower and longer than paraffin candles of similar size. Beeswax naturally has a pleasant and relaxing honey-like aroma.
